​NACSW K9 Nose Work® Classes At All About The Nose

Introduction to K9 Nose Work® is the first class in the NACSW methodology of teaching K9 Nose Work®. The dogs are searching for primary reinforcement, either food or toys or in some cases simply praise from their handler. This has been a proven methodology to increase drive, independence, problem solving and confidence, also known as the Core Foundations of nose work. It also significantly increases the dog’s love of the game. This is where all “new” dog should start and benefit the most. 

 

It is critical that you and your dog attend the first 6 weeks of class. In the first weeks of foundation training, each week builds on the week before. If you miss a class, your dog will likely be unable to be successful when he returns. If you MUST miss class for something unexpected, plan to schedule a private lesson with your instructor. Introduction to K9 Nose Work and Introduction to Odor are run back-to-back in alternating 6-week blocks throughout the year, so there's always a start date right around the corner. (6 Week Course / $250) 

 

Introduction to K9NW® Odor is the next class in which we introduce the essential odors (Birch, Anise and Clove for NACSW) to the game by pairing the odor with the primary reinforcer. Again, this allows for quick (immediate) self reward to the dog for finding the correct target. From there we continue to build upon the Core Foundations of Drive, Independence, Problem Solving and Confidence. Introduction to K9 Nose Work Odor and Introduction to K9 Nose Work are run back-to-back in alternating 6-week blocks throughout the year, so there's always a start date right around the corner. (6 Week Course / $250)

Ongoing K9NW® Classes continue to build skills, mostly those of the handler! Leash handling, search strategies, odor science, trial skills, start line skills, the list is endless, hence, Ongoing Classes! ($150 Per Month - Prepaid 1st of Each Month)

Private K9NW® Classes are available on a limited basis to take your search work to the next level. Private lessons provide 100% focused instruction to diagnose handler mechanics, solve specific odor puzzles, and target problem areas like inaccessible hides or environmental sensitivity. Perfect for teams preparing for upcoming trials or breaking through training plateaus. ($75 per 30 minutes - $80 for 2 dogs/handlers)multiple discounts for two dog.
