Good morning and welcome to Home Is Where We Park It. As I mentioned in our last post from The Adventures of the Mighty IGs, we’re splitting off our RV travel stories to a new group to keep our travel memories in one consolidated place —and you brave souls actually wanted to follow along! Thank you and we hope we’ll be interesting enough to keep you awake!
Today, home truly IS where we parked it, because we’re currently camped out in my driveway! Yes, nothing says adventure like the thrilling landscape of suburban concrete. But don’t be fooled by the mundane location—it takes an Olympic level of planning just to prep the van for an 11-day trip. If you know me, you know my OCD is legendary, so cue the epic deep clean. I sanitized, inventoried, and purged so fiercely I half expected the neighbors to call the CDC. We need space for 11 days of supplies, and yes, that includes 66 IG meals because we’re traveling with Shade, Pink and Vivi. That’s right—three IGs, who, let’s be honest, are far less dramatic travelers than Carol and me. If the dogs had opposable thumbs, we’d let them drive and we'd nap in the back.
This trip also marks a historic first: making room for laundry supplies. There’s simply no way two humans can fit 10 days’ worth of outfits in this van unless we master the art of folding clothes down to atomic size. Enter detergent sheets and dryer sheets—the unsung heroes of RV packing. Add a coin purse stuffed with quarters, and we’re ready to conquer laundromats along the way. Minimal room, maximum fresh scent. If only our sense of fashion packed as efficiently!
Up next, meal planning. Stay tuned!
